Remember when you were a kid?
And your imagination took you to so many places?
One day you were fighting dragons, and the next, you were “cooking” a meal for your family.
Play is one of the most special and amazing things kids have, and they use it daily.
Not Playing Around
Play therapy isn’t just about “playing.”
It’s about the expression of emotions and content in their everyday world. Play therapy allows them to explore complex issues in a way that feels comfortable for them.
Children don’t always have the ability to tell me how they are feeling, so I engage in their world through play to find out what’s troubling them.
As a Registered Play Therapist (RPT), I provide support, guidance, modeling, and coping skills.
Welcome to the Playroom
In the playroom, you’ll see multiple different types of toys. I encourage the use of toys in a way that each child sees fit.
While your child engages in play, I make careful notes of the themes and metaphors that come up. These details give me insight into what they need from their world.
And they’ll also guide us in finding ways to support your child at home, in school, and around friends.
Don’t give up – there is hope!
Often, parents will say, “I’ve tried everything,” or “I just don’t know how to help them.”
You’ve already taken one of the most important steps to help your child – finding support when all hope seems lost.
We’re experiencing a trying time for children and families, so let’s work together to help you and your child feel more in control of life.
Through our collaboration, we’ll determine the best course of action for your family and your child.
Even in the Most Challenging Situations
Perhaps your child is dealing with anger, anxiety, depression, or overall emotional regulation.
Or struggling to cope with trauma, ADHD/ADD, or difficulties with communication.
During our time together, I’ll build a trusting relationship with your child and their caregivers to provide a more calming and peaceful environment.
I even offer parental guidance, support, and more for you, as well.
It’s a family affair.
I work with children, families, and caregivers to help your child experience more confidence, peace, and – ultimately – happiness.
Though the old song says, “Once you leave its borders, you can never return again,” that’s not exactly true.
Come back to the “wonderful world of Joyland” and see how the simplicity of play therapy can lead to life-altering discovery and transformation.
