“Tell me about your childhood….”
You’ve probably heard stories or even seen what “therapy” looks like.
While there are some truths (es, I do have a couch and tissues in my office), many of the stereotypical representations (like lying on that couch and divulging your entire life story) don’t truly portray therapy.
Individual therapy is just that: individual. Together, we customize the process, tailoring it to your specific needs.
No two sessions look the same, and that’s exactly what we are striving for! Everyone experiences therapy differently, and that’s OK!
You’re in control.
In counseling, we’ll work toward achieving the goals you want, not what your family or friends think you need to work on.
You may feel confused, unsettled, and perhaps even like you want to quit when you begin the process. While this is a true human experience, these emotions are only temporary. And I promise I will be with you through them all.
Individual therapy is a place to explore your identity and figure out where you want to go. You will find purpose and meaning as we explore this thing called life! We find areas of strengths (yes, we all have them), and we’ll work on areas that may be your blind spots.
We’ll celebrate your accomplishments and work through the lows so that you come out stronger and more hopeful.
As trust grows, you grow.
At the beginning of this process, we will be strangers. But by the end, we will have built a strong, trusting relationship.
Today, you are reading this and dreaming of a different tomorrow. Tomorrow, you could be embarking on a journey of self-growth with me in individual counseling!
